It’s like one of those horror movie zombies, the thing that just won’t die. Yes, once again the Republican Party, joined by some Democrats, all doing the work of Exxon Mobil, Chevron, the American Petroleum Institute and all the others, are trying to force through approval of the Keystone XL pipeline in Congress.

In response, dozens of groups have come together in just a few days to plan for a huge internet campaign from noon Monday to noon Tuesday to come up with at least a half million signatures against these efforts.

And then do what you can to spread the word today, this evening and into tomorrow am. Facebook. Twitter. Telling your co-workers or friends. Writing something at blog sites. Let’s make this really big! Let’s draw a line in the sand, the tar sands, so that history will show that our success in preventing this pipeline was the stimulus for the rapid shift from fossil fuels to renewables and efficiency that we badly need.

There is no way to build Keystone XL that does not accelerate production of the tar sands and create an ‘essentially game over’ scenario for our climate. The only people benefiting from this pipeline would be Big Oil – every single claim about the positive economic impacts has been proven false by independent review.

Let’s do it once again!
