Virginia-based Dominion Resources wants to build a $3.8 billion industrial facility at Cove Point, right on the Chesapeake Bay in Calvert County. This facility would liquefy and export to Asia nearly one billion cubic feet of fracked natural gas every day.
Liquefied natural gas, or LNG, exports are so energy intensive that this single project would become the state’s biggest climate polluter, triggering more greenhouse gas emissions than Maryland’s entire fleet of coal-fired power plants. It would also trigger a whole new wave of pipelines and fracking wells across our region.
We must fight back! You can help right now by calling on Governor O’Malley and the state’s Public Service Commission — which must sign-off on key permits Dominion needs — to stand with us in protecting Maryland.
Sign the Petition: Marylanders say “NO” to fracked gas exports at Cove Point.
