Talking Points:

  • Our economy isn’t collapsing because of lack of capital or liquidity; it’s collapsing because it it’s built on the inflated financial “assets” of Wall Street, instead of on a solid foundation of real products.
  • If America is to start generating real wealth again, and restore the health of our economy we need a build-up of technology and innovation, not just a bailout of an irresponsible financial system.
  • By investing just a fraction of the 700 billion dollar rescue package to build the green economy, America could generate 5 million green jobs, reduce costs and free up capital for businesses, help families save on energy expenses and make America a leader in the development of technologies that will power the 21st Century.
  • A recent report from the MD department of the environment showed that growing the green energy economy would add 16 Billion dollars and 5.3 billion in wages to the MD economy over the next 10 years.
  • Green jobs are local jobs, that can’t be exported. You can’t pick up a house and ship it to china for an energy retrofit.
  • I implore our elected officials to invest in a real economic stimulus package – a green buildup – that will help put our economy back on solid ground, put millions of Americans to work, protect the natural resource base that our economy ultimately depends upon.
