While Dominion Power and Attorney General Cuccinelli rolled out the product of their controversial alliance to harm the environment and the climate, CCANers and members of other allied groups took action today at the General Assembly, stressing the need to Fix Virginia’s RPS, and not let legislators nix our only provisions that reward clean energy.

Delegate Lopez at RPS Day of ActionCheck out the crowd at the kick-off program that began the day! Speakers from CCAN, the Sierra Club, the solar power industry, as well as a medical doctor and State Delegate Alfonso Lopez rallied citizen climate activists to fight any attempts to remove incentives for clean energy in Virginia and support legislation to strengthen our law to require utilities to invest in wind and solar power in Virginia order to collect any renewable energy performance-based bonuses.
Supporters of clean energy jobs and cuts in pollution spent the day taking advantage of every chance to get their message in front of legislators, handing out information to them on their way to caucus, crowding into the gallery of the House of Delegates during session, and packing a House Commerce and Labor Committee meeting to show the committee members that we are watching and holding them accountable for approving legislation that makes Virginia’s economy, families, and the global climate healthier.
Join us as we fill the room during Commerce and Labor meetings over the next two weeks and be sure to contact your legislators right now and urge them to FixThe RPS, for solar and wind in Virginia — Don’t Nix It!
