Yesterday, over 500 students across Virginia pledged to be a Climate Voter before they hit the polls to cast their ballots.  Wow! I could feel the electoral energy as I stood outside with Virginia Commonwealth University students eager to get last minute pledges for clean energy.

Election Day’s big success adds to the past two weeks on the ground across VA where students have come together in a push to get over 1,700 students pledging to vote for a clean energy future. Over 500 students pledged to be a Climate Voter yeterday before the polls closed

 

When it’s so clear that the youth movement wants clean energy, more and more attention is drawn to the weak energy legislation we have in our state. In one of only nine states across that country with NO utility-scale wind or solar power facilities, students have spoken- they’re ready to take a stand for the climate.

It all starts with a vote, and yesterday, hundreds of Virginian students took that first step. Now, it’s time to push harder and make sure we demand climate action and take the lead to keep fossil fuel’s dirty money out of our future.VCU students pledging to be a Climate Voter on November 6th.
